PELE

Edison Arantes do Nascimento (Three Corações, Minas Gerais, Brazil - October 23, 1940) is a former Brazilian footballer, better known as Pele. It is considered one of the best players in the history of this sport. He won two Libertadores Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, a Recopa Sudamericana, Recopa Intercontinental, 15 league titles and 5 Cups Brazil until 1975, when already in the decline of his career decided to try their luck in the U.S. North American Soccer League. He stood out as the best player in the tournament and won a league title (1977) with the New York Cosmos team, a team which formalized his retirement from professional football, however, failed to further the goal of popularizing football in that country.
Pele never played in European football, so his career is particular to be the only South American soccer player considered among the best in history, without having left their country in all his career. He was chosen athlete of the century by the International Olympic Committee in 1999, despite not having participated never an Olympic Games



XUXA



Maria da Graca better known as Xuxa Meneghel (March 27, 1963 - Santa Rosa, Rio Grande do Sul) is a famous model, television presenter, Brazilian singer and actress. Has children's television programmes in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Not only is recognized in his country, also Latin america. Xuxa was one of the most important phenomena of the 1980's in Brazil and Latin americas. Acquires fame and fortune with his children's programme "El Show de Xuxa" of TV Globo.





LULA

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva born on 27 October 1945, popularly known as Lula is the current President of Brazil and a founding member of its Workers' Party (Partido dos Trabalhadores). Lula was elected to the post on 27 October 2002 with 61% of the vote , and took office on 1 January 2003. On 29 October 2006, Lula was re-elected with more than 60% of the vote, extending his position as President until 1 January 2011.

Sports in Brazil


Sports in Brazil which are widely practiced and popular in the country, as well as others which originated there or have some cultural significance. The Brazilian people are very involved in sports, and the most popular one is football and can be considered a cultural phenomenon.

The most popular sport in Brazil is Football. The National Team also called Canarinha, is immensely popular, not only in Brazil but also in the many parts of the world where football is appreciated, The Brazilian national team has been victorious in the FIFA World Cup tournament a record five times. The usual colors of the Brazilian team are yellow, green and blue.

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art marked by deft, tricky movements often played on the ground or completely inverted. It also has a strong acrobatic component in some versions and is always played with music. It is a culturally significant sport, developed in colonial times by slaves. Nowadays Capoeira is practiced internationally and found its way into popular culture through many computer games and movies.

The volleyball is the second national sport and has many followers and practitioners. The Brazilian team won the men's World Championship 2006 in Japan, having also been the World champion in 2002 and won the gold medal in the Olympic Games of Athens 2004. The selection of women is also one of the best in the world.
