Edison Arantes do Nascimento (Three Corações, Minas Gerais, Brazil - October 23, 1940) is a former Brazilian footballer, better known as Pele. It is considered one of the best players in the history of this sport. He won two Libertadores Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, a Recopa Sudamericana, Recopa Intercontinental, 15 league titles and 5 Cups Brazil until 1975, when already in the decline of his career decided to try their luck in the U.S. North American Soccer League. He stood out as the best player in the tournament and won a league title (1977) with the New York Cosmos team, a team which formalized his retirement from professional football, however, failed to further the goal of popularizing football in that country.
Pele never played in European football, so his career is particular to be the only South American soccer player considered among the best in history, without having left their country in all his career. He was chosen athlete of the century by the International Olympic Committee in 1999, despite not having participated never an Olympic Games
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva born on 27 October 1945, popularly known as Lula is the current President of Brazil and a founding member of its Workers' Party (Partido dos Trabalhadores). Lula was elected to the post on 27 October 2002 with 61% of the vote , and took office on 1 January 2003. On 29 October 2006, Lula was re-elected with more than 60% of the vote, extending his position as President until 1 January 2011.
